Based on motifs by Richard Wagner
In his concerts, Johannes Kiem works with the compositional techniques of the 19th and early 20th century. The music is always composed live. In the course of this programme, Preludes will emerge from distinctive motifs of the Ring cycle – the Wälsungs’ motif, Brünnhilde and Siegfried, Erda, Wotan… Taking the cue from Wagner’s dictum: “music is the parturient, the poet is the creator”, in the second part of the concert, the audience can take part in the composition process by naming feelings and states of being to be put to music. A journey into the world of the Ring, its psychologizing elements and the harmonic structures arising from them, shaped by impulses from the audience.
